SYNETICS bulls also successful after using Single-Step method

Breeding value estimation April 2025 

With the April breeding value estimation, the breeding values for German Holsteins are now estimated using the new single-step method. The single-step procedure increases the reliability of the breeding values, especially for health and functional traits, with an increase in reliability of up to 14 %. Young, genomic bulls and genotyped female Holsteins in particular benefit from this, which improves breeding progress at both herd and population level, while also explaining the extreme variation in individual traits. This enables breeders to make their decisions on an even more reliable basis, which also promotes breeding progress in the long term.

With these developments, the SYNETICS breeding programme continues to be a driving force in modern cattle breeding. The broad genetic diversity and the targeted use of polled genetics strengthen the sustainable breeding strategy for the future.

Black & White genomic bulls

  • Pennywise is still #1, also in the Interbull list according to RZG

  • Among the top bulls are also Negroni with outstanding conformation and unique component inheritance, and Major Tom with the highest milk yield

  • Alster as the highest Aljano son has the almost perfect linear profile, half-brother Nexino is included as the #1 conformation sire

  • One of the highest polled sires is Smartie P, who appears to be the most interesting with his somewhat different pedigree

Black & White daughter proven bulls

Zivet-daughter group at 51st Schau der Besten

  • Pellegrino remains successful in the German breeding value system and is again #1 with double the number of daughters

  • Zivet (RZG 146), from whom a beautiful daughter group could be admired at the “51. Schau der Besten”, and Cashflow (RZG 144) also make an impressive start with their first daughters included in their breeding values

  • Benboy and Copyland are also new to this list and increasingly in demand. Benboy with good components and impressive health and Copyland with solid milk yield, components and milkability are in the Top list

  • All-purpose weapon Topstone in #15 place remains by far the bull with the most daughters in the Top list

  • Rover appears in front of him in #5 place as another newcomer

Red & White genomic bulls

  • Race Red P lands directly in the Top 5 and is by far the highest Ranking P-son. He is also already being used as a bull sire

  • The only Pike son Pedri Red continues to impress. He has a super cow family in front of him, which is very interesting as an outcross pedigree in Red & White breeding. His half-brother and Feit Red P son Femur Red is the best udder sire with 145 for udders

  • The all-rounder with lots of milk, Dean Red P is still in the Top lists.

  • In the conformation area, there is no way around Solito Red son Spicy Red

  • The bull sires appear to be the most striking in this list: Gywer RDC has 8 sons, Spark Red three sons and Solito Red one son in the Top 20

     

  • Six Red PP remains the highest homozygous polled bull in this segment

  • After a long time, Solito Red has to give up the throne of the conformation list to his own son and is now in #2 place.

  • After an impressive daughter group at Schau der Besten, Say Red PP keeps to improve with his official daughter
