45th Beef Cattle Days 2024

Spectacular bids for best quality and great atmosphere

Bull parade and bull auction at the 45th Beef Cattle Days 2024 - The crème de la crème of beef cattle meets in Verden

If you want to see breed diversity at its very best, arrive punctually at 09:00 in the Niedersachsenhalle Verden, where the breed presentation of the 45th Beef Cattle Days will take place. The best bulls from the bull licensing that took place the day before will shine in the very best light. These are the best bulls from Lower Saxony and Saxony - that much is certain! While TOP genetics from Angus, Blonde d'Aquitaine, Charolais, Fleckvieh, Galloway, Hereford, Limousin and Salers are being scrutinised by the spectators, the breeders already have the next event in mind: who will be awarded the coveted title of "Mister MASTERRIND" and thus become the best of the best?

The judges make it exciting! Who will be Mister MASTERRIND 2024?

After his words of welcome, guest of honour Bernd Barfuß and Johannes Röttger got straight to work. From the winners of each breed, the best five and then the best three bulls were selected and then it was time to get down to business. To the rhythmic applause of the eager spectators, Bernd Barfuß resolutely walked up to the Limousin bull MP Rolex and awarded the title of Mister MASTERRIND 2024 to Zuchtstätte Pupkes GbR, Hinte. Breeder Manfred Pupkes' face was beaming with joy as he was overwhelmed with congratulations. No wonder, because this victory is the result of years of hard work, which is now being justly rewarded. What a touching moment!

Large and small of the very best quality

The Fleckvieh beef breed entered the ring next. Imposing bodies with enormous heads lined up in front of the auction ring and not only the Fleckvieh breeders on site raised their bidding numbers in rows, but also the bell of the online auction platform rang in one go. Once again, it became clear how well the online bidding process has already established itself. Among the nicely spotted representatives, two bulls were auctioned off at the highest price of €4,800: Breed and type winner JKW Hillmar from the Kück breeding farm in Worpswede and Gero from the Holger Schneider farm in Reichenbach changed hands for this price. HFS Saphir was sold for €4,600, making him the second most expensive price.

Pitch black, round ears and perfectly staged curls - the four show-experienced representatives of the Galloway breed have all this in common. One by one, they too are successfully put under the hammer. Who could resist? The first bull of the fluffy representatives, Digger from Zuchtbetrieb Fritze, Hagen im Bremischen, achieved the TOP price of €4,000. The other Galloway bulls were also all highly presentable representatives of their breed and, as expected, changed hands quickly.

The three Hereford bulls presented themselves very fine today. They are perfect breeds, showpieces of their breed and the diligent buyers know that. The Ia award-winning Capitol from the esteemed Rust breeding farm in Fallingbostel sold for the highest price of €2,300 with his outstanding scores of 8/8/7. The other two Hereford bulls were only just below this with prices of €2,100 each.

The Salers breed concluded the extensive breeds with two very successful breedings, in which the passion for the animal is also reflected in the presentation.

Hard work pays off: Top price for Mister MASTERRIND

Then the star of the day came into the ring. The auction of Mister MASTERRIND began and the online auction bell rang in one go. But the bids also flew in for the auctioneer on site: "8,700", 8,800", he could be heard shouting and finally the next thousand were reached: "Nine thousand!" rang out from the loudspeakers. But that wasn't the end of the story. "9,500 € for the first, for the second, 9,700!" the hall roared. Will the bids go any higher? The smile of the last bidder reveals: it's staying that way. And again from the beginning: "First, second, third, sold!". A loud round of applause for the highest price for the Limousin breed suddenly erupted in the Niedersachsenhalle. The bids for the next bulls of the penultimate breed block continued in quick succession. The bidding became even more intense than in the previous blocks, which was no wonder with bulls from such renowned breeding farms. Farms such as Pupkes GbR or Richter-Tölke GbR, like so many other outstanding breeders, enriched the Beef Cattle Days with the very best breeding qualities. As with the previous breeds, the bidders knew exactly what they wanted and made extremely expert bids. As a result, the bid for the second most expensive animal was easily realised: €8,600 for Lux from the Grimmelmann breeding farm in Hilgermissen - very good work!

Last but not least, the heavy, large-framed white giants, the Charolais, entered the ring. The breed winner Maximus from the Schmaedeke farm in Schweringen kicked things off and the auctioneer let it be known that things were about to get really exciting! The second bull, WIC Remus, bred by Wehde Jun. in Isernhagen, received an excellent hammer price of €5,600 and shortly afterwards another bull from this breeding centre, WIC Smaragd, achieved the same price - what a success! Breed winner Maximus from Schmaedeke, Schweringen, followed up with €5,000 and thus achieved a good second highest price.

In conclusion, one thing is certain: the 45th Beef Cattle Days 2024 were a complete success and we are already looking forward to next year! With an average price of € 3,730 across all breeds, the result is something to be proud of.  A big thank you to all the exhibitors who bred such outstanding animals with so much dedication, skill and passion and presented them this weekend. Without this commitment and the impeccable cooperation between breeders and the organisers, the Beef Cattle Days would not be the great event that it is.
